Pot, Marijuana, Weed, Cannabis, or Ganga, are a few different names for the same thing.

How To Make CannaButter

Cannabutter or Potbutter is one of the most common ingredients to add when making edibiles or other medicated foods such as brownies or cookies. When making cannabutter you are extracting the THC from the flower and infusing it together with the butter so it can be added to your favorite snack.

If you are lactose intolerant or you are looking for a healthier alternative, coconut oil (link to page) may be a better alternative for you. Some people say they prefer the taste of the coconut oil better, because it is less ‘skunky’ than using regular butter.

Before you begin to make your potbutter you will need to extract the THC from the flower.

Preheat your oven from 200F to 250F (depending how hot your oven gets).
Spread your cannabis in a single layer on a cookie sheet.
Place the cannabis in the oven, after about 15 minutes you may want to it stir it around a bit or turn the cookie sheet around, so drying is even.
Check again in about 15 more minutes. When your cannabis is crumbly it is ready!
Take your cannabis out of the oven, once cooled, you can crumble by hand or use a grinder to make it finer before adding to butter or oil.

Making Cannabis Tea:

Cut a small square from a clean piece of cheesecloth, fold it over until no extracted THC flower falls through or you can use a clean nylon.
Add a teaspoon or to your tasting, of the extracted cannabis flower, tie and soak in a cup of hot water for 3-5 minutes. You can add a teaspoon of honey for a little sweetness.

Step 1:

Make a double boiler by putting a smaller pan in a slightly larger pan. The top pan will be where you put the butter, water will go into the bottom pan.
(This will keep your butter from burning and will help it to cook more evenly)
Add about a cup of water to your bottom pan and bring it to a boil, then turn down to simmer. (When the water gets low, add more)

Step 2:

Melt 4 sticks of butter
Once the butter has melted, add your extracted dry flowers.
1 ounce dry flower (more or less, to your taste)
Turn your heat down as low as it can go.
Let it cook for about 1 -3 hours. Stirring occasionally, letting the flowers infuse into the butter or oil.
(You can also use a crock pot if you’d like.)

Step 3:

Gather your container for storage.
Fold cheesecloth till none of your cannabis partials can go through.
Secure it to the top of your container with a rubber band.
When your butter is ready, pour it through the cheesecloth into your container.
(Be Careful it will be HOT!)
Once it is all in there, gather your cheesecloth and squeeze remaining butter out.

Step 4:

Cover and put in the refrigerator. Let it cool overnight or until firm.
Once ready, take it out.
You may see water on the bottom when it is done, just carefully tip the container upside down and dump it off.

Wait until it is room temperature, then you are ready to INDULGE!
(Do Not Microwave)
